Slow Play | Legal Remedy | Dust Off | Middle James | Off The Tracks | Rock Hill Brewing | Lake Wylie Brewing
Breweries are taking over, and I for one am here for it! You can barely throw a stone in Charlotte without hitting one these days, and Rock Hill isn’t too far behind.
We have a lot to offer, and I’m so excited we are seeing new growth in the brewery scene. If you’ve been around Rock Hill for longer than a millisecond you’ve noticed the change in scenery. We are coming up, y’all, and it’s about damn time. (Cue the Lizzo: in a minute, I’ma need to, PINT me up!)
Read on to find your next favorite beer.
Slow Play Brewing
Location: Winthrop – 274 Columbia Ave., Rock Hill, SC
Slow Play has everything you want or need in a brewery. It’s the best beer in Rock Hill, hands down. While I generally err on the side of IPAs ALL DAY, I truly have enjoyed every beer poured for me at Slow Play. TIP: After your beer and food intake, head to Craft Axe Throwing, which has opened up right next door.
Grab A Pint Of:
Flamingose, a 4.9% Gose brewed with pink guava, pineapple, lime, coriander, and sea salt. Trust me on this one. Dang, I’m getting thirsty now. Not a beer drinker? Ask about their craft sodas from New Creation Soda Works out of GA.
Full Tap List: https://www.slowplaybrewing.com/beers
Food Options:
The CibiCibi food truck is almost always parked outside. Best food truck in Rock Hill. The Cibi Classic burger is unbeatable, with the caramelized onions mingling with cheese and burger sauce… I’m drooling just thinking about it.

Legal Remedy Brewing
Location: Downtown – 129 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC
Legal Remedy was the first brewery to open in Rock Hill, in 2015. They can produce up to 10,000 barrels of beer a year, but that’s not all. Their menu is excellent, and they smoke their meats in-house. Try the Southern Poutine or the Brisket Mac and Cheese, you can’t go wrong.
Grab A Pint Of:
World Court Mocha Blonde Stout, brewed with coffee from Knowledge Perk and voted the best beer in SC. Or check out the Whistleblower Watermelon Wheat, with its refreshing taste, it’s sure to help you beat the summer heat.

The Vibe
This old car dealership turned brewery was restored impeccably. With great outdoor space and a large parking lot, it’s no wonder the Rock Hill Farmer’s Market is here each week.
Dust Off Brewing
Location: Downtown – 130 W White St. Suite A, Rock Hill, SC
The name Dust Off is an homage to the armed forces and a nod to one of their founders who was a Blackhawk pilot (wow!). If their name and logo wasn’t enough to prove it, the names of their brews also lean into the theme.
Grab A Pint Of:
Hazy Day in the Clouds IPA, with plenty of hops and a nice smooth finish, or the Combat Coffee Porter made with coffee roasted just two doors down at Knowledge Perk.
Full Tap List: http://www.dustoffbrewing.com/beer/

Rotating food trucks – the food truck calendar isn’t currently working on their website.
The Vibe
Open and comfortable. They have a mix of indoor and outdoor space. Don’t miss the seating area out back, it’s a cool little alley with a great mural. Don’t miss the mural on the side of the building too.

Middle James Brewing
Location: The Power House – 378 Technology Center Dr., Rock Hill, SC
Middle James isn’t a new name in brewing, but it’s new to Rock Hill. The original Middle James opened in Pineville four years ago, but the new taproom opened at the Power House earlier this spring and is an excellent addition to the area’s breweries.
Grab a pint of:
The New New, a New England IPA, is clean and refreshing with just the right hop bite.
Full Tap List: middlejamesbrewing.com/#TapList
Food Options:
Middle James doesn’t have a kitchen in Rock Hill, but you can order from Old Town Kitchen to be delivered so you don’t ever have to leave the place.
You can also bring in outside food, and with the food hall next door there are a lot of great options.

Lake Wylie Brewing
Location: Newport – 369 Hands Mill Hwy, Rock Hill, SC
There’s not much to do in Newport aside from “The Walmart,” but just up the way is Lake Wylie Brewing. A lively spot that was playing great ’90s throwbacks when I stopped in. They keep things simple and change the beers often. I was delighted to see diverse beer options.
Grab A Pint Of:
DAM Release IPA, or if you are into sours the Pontoon Pineapple packs a puckering punch.
Full Tap List: No tap list exists online as they change the beers often.

Rotating Food Trucks, check out their social media for details.

Relaxed. This brewery feels like the craft breweries of yore. Simple and functional, with ample seating and a huge yard. Bring the kids and let them play in the dirt while you get tanked.
